Tracking your web site uptime

I have recently discovered PingDom a online pay per use web site & server monitoring service.   Over the years I have dabbled with a wide variety of tools for this purpose or paid for various services.  This one stands out as the most credible and feature rich option.  Our server is currently hosting a good handful of paying customers running ecommerce site and other business web sites.  With several businesses ecommerce relying on our cloud sever I though it would be prudent to not only have a great backup system but also have a monitoring system in place, especially since the vast majority of server downtime can be attributed to two issues 1)  human error or 2)  hackers.   This seams like a good service.  If anyone has any other suggestions, I would love to see them in the comments.  I am considering offering this as an add-on service to my hosting customers in the near future.  There are a few great features I’d like to highlight.

1.  The ability to post on a custom domain the site status and history, or simply use their link to provide a historical view of all site history -  (i.e. status.mydomain.com – I have not set this up, but it seems easy enough) .  Here is a link example of this service reporting the uptime of the site:  http://www.MSNOffersforschoolsc.om  Reporting site:  http://stats.pingdom.com/obucgp1yz251

2.  The ability to include report banners on your own web site.  Here is an example using the HTML embed information provided by PingDom  This is a static report from the monitoring of www.msnoffersforschools.comsince I signed for the free trial of the service.

Uptime for MSN Offers for Schools: 11/19/2011 - 01/01/2012

So far it seems like a great service at a reasonable price.  I really like the free trial, and free monitoring of a single domain.  In the near future, should any of my customers like this service, I will upgrade to a more advance package.  Looking forward to your comments on this and other suggested site and server monitoring services.
